About SOS@Home

The social start-up SOS@Home was founded in March 2022 and operates a platform that connects victims of domestic violence with existing help and support services. Many victims of domestic violence suffer in silence, feeling overwhelmed and powerless. SOS@Home clearly bundles offers of help on one page. Supported by a smart filter process, victims can anonymously, free of charge and easily find and claim suitable help offers in the immediate area.

Why did we found SOS@Home?

We launched SOS@Home - The Platform Against Domestic Violence - in August 2020.

We want to combat domestic violence in the long term by connecting those seeking help with the appropriate support services and providing education.

We not only want to make it easy to find the right support, we also make sure that domestic violence is no longer a taboo topic.

How did we come up with the idea?

We developed the idea for this platform as part of a course at Munich University of Applied Sciences, because a survey conducted by the Technical University of Munich regarding domestic violence in lockdown got us thinking. Less than half of the affected respondents knew about the telephone counselling service, while less than 4% actually called there. (TU Munich study on domestic violence during the Corona pandemic from 22.04. to 08.05.20)

Our Team

We are a team of young students and graduates from different fields. The founding team are Ida Diwert, Lena Binnberg, Svea Körfgen and Mohamed Gamea. Ida and Lena are studying Management of Social Innovations at the University of Applied Sciences Munich. Ida is in charge of partnerships with aid organizations and network and Lena takes care of marketing and public relations.  Svea studied Social Work and is currently in the Master's program for Human Resource Management. She is responsible for all issues related to human resources, strategy and coordination. Mohamed has successfully completed his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at the University of Applied Sciences in Aachen and is responsible for the technical tasks around our platform together with our technology partner Novatec Consulting GmbH.

Our founding team is completed by our energetic and ambitious supporters Jaqueline Walk, Sandra May, Jana Rohde, Giuliana Di Bernado, Patricia Wahr, Elvira Trofymenko, Maksym Yunkin, Dennis Sperling and Leona Trautner.
