About SOS@Home

The social start-up SOS@Home was founded in March 2022 and operates a platform that connects victims of domestic violence with existing help and support services. Many victims of domestic violence suffer in silence, feeling overwhelmed and powerless. SOS@Home clearly bundles offers of help on one page. Supported by a smart filter process, victims can anonymously, free of charge and easily find and claim suitable help offers in the immediate area.

Although there is a wide range of help available, most of those affected are not aware of it. This is exactly what we want to change. Filter questions will enable those seeking help to quickly and easily find the offers that are tailored to their individual situation. In the future, not only victims, but also help-seeking parents, perpetrators and those who are paying attention should find help offers on the platform. The idea for this platform was developed by the team during a course at Munich University of Applied Sciences, based on a survey conducted by the Technical University of Munich regarding domestic violence in lockdown. Less than half of the affected respondents were aware of the telephone counselling service, while less than 4% actually called there. (TU Munich study on domestic violence during the Corona pandemic from 04/22 to 05/08/20).

This makes it clear that although there is a wide range of help available, a large proportion of those affected are unaware of it. That's exactly what we want to change. That is why we are building the missing bridge between those seeking help and those offering help, so that victims or survivors of domestic violence, (potential) perpetrators, relatives and those paying attention (neighbors, teachers, social pedagogues, exercise instructors,...) can quickly and easily find the appropriate help they need.

SOS@Home is already working with various partners: Novatec Consulting GmbH as a technology partner and the Stracheg Center for Entrepreneurship (Munich University of Applied Sciences) supports SOS@Home with financial and non-material support during its foundation.
